A variation of majolica, this stunning antique French asparagus plate is produced of barbotine pottery and highlights the traditional relief techniques that gives this piece depth and a bit of "trompe-l'oeil". Thick glazes and beautiful hand applied color give it additional rustic surface detail. In a somewhat Art Nouveau style, this plate features raised purple-tipped asparagus and pink chrysanthemum flowers. A gorgeous piece from the turn of the century!
